Coolendel Adventure

Situated on the banks of the Shoalhaven River, 30km west of Nowra, Coolendel is the nature retreat that dreams are made of. In past years, students have enjoyed the incredible beauty of Coolendel and its amazing features: sandy beach, the rapids, lush green grounds, and wildlife galore! Coolendel is a bush camping area that Optimum Experiences Outdoor Adventures has been using for programs for more than 20 years. Our extensive experience with this campsite makes it a perfect area to hold our adventure camps and team building activities. Coolendel has lots of natural bush and wildlife, birds, wombats, wallabies, goannas, possums, and other creatures. The Shoalhaven River is ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. There are natural rapids and a jump rock to play in. Nearby you will find natural cliffs for abseiling and rock climbing, and many tracks for bushwalks and mountain bike rides suitable for all skill levels. Older students venture out into Morton National Park on an expedition they will remember for a lifetime: canoeing down rapids, camping on the beach, and climbing the three peaks are just some of the incredible adventures in store! There are also activities on site such as Flying Fox, high wire activities, Flying Possum, archery, orienteering and initiative and team building games. You will feel like your are in a remote area, but will still have modern facilities, like hot showers and other amenities in your bunkhouse. These camps are suitable for all ages including primary school groups. They can also be fully catered,or students can learn to cook in the bush, with fresh ingredients supplied daily.

Exploring Coolendel

Coolendel is also a great base to explore the area on expedition style camps, PDHPE, PASS, Outdoor Education Modules, or Duke of Edinburgh Journeys. Students can canoe, walk, or mountain bike for part of their journey, and test their skills in navigation, map reading, and expedition style bush camping. Experienced staff support these expeditions with radio communications and support vehicles assisting where required. Students learn to understand leadership roles, responsibilities and opportunities, so that they can all work together as a group to achieve a desired goal.
